Five delightful rooms and suites offer memorable views and calming, elegant places to stay in the heart of hill country. The Nine Skies room features timber floors, twin four-poster beds, ceiling fans, and a private veranda for lazy afternoons. The Demodera bedrooms boast views over the garden to the tea fields beyond and in the distance the hazy south-eastern mountains. These delightful rooms are a stylish nod to a bygone era and beautiful in their elegance and charm. The Ella Rock Suite promises romance and nostalgia with a four-poster bed swathed in delicate linen, plump sofas, and a private garden terrace with a private veranda.

Overlooking the verdant green gardens and tea-clad hills beyond, the dining at Nine Skies is attentive and considered. All meals are included so you can fuel up for the day with a hearty breakfast including Sri Lankan favourites such as hoppers, best enjoyed with an array of relishes. Lunch is usually a selection of curries and rice dishes before a gourmet a la carte dinner in the evening. Afternoon tea, snacks and drinks including your favourite alcoholic tipples are also included and there are no set dining times, just let your butler know a time that suits you and they will do the rest.

Due to its striking location in hill country, the experiences at Nine Skies are all based around tea. There is superb walking tail which can be enjoyed under your own steam or with the local knowledge of your butler guide. Enjoy a visit to Finlay’s Tea Factory and learn the many intricacies of tea production and explore the Nine Arch Railway Bridge viaduct and 360-degree Demodera Loop. Alternatively, head into hill country where you can swim under cascading waterfalls and indulge in a picnic prepared by your butler guide. Back at Nine Skies, the cool, still waters of the infinity edge pool await.

Getting There

Arrival Airport

Ampara Airport

Approximately a 4 hour drive from the airport.

The main south west monsoon brings rain to the Hill Country from April to September, making December to March the best time to visit. Sri Lanka's position close to the equator means that temperatures remain fairly constant throughout the year, although nights in the hills can be quite chilly.
