Holidays to Baja California with If Only

Baja California on the Baja California Peninsula borders with the U.S. state of California. The real beauty of Baja lies in its distinctive coastline, home to rocky bluffs and crags, sweeping vistas of the ocean and the famous El Arco, where sea lions converge. Go whale watching, snorkelling or take a trip out to sea in a glass-bottomed boat. Inland, discover a slew of fine dining options and seafood stalls dating back from the 1960’s. Rustic chic with a Mexican influence, local towns include Tijuana and the beach town of Rosarito.

Highlights

Bask in the heat of the sultry Sonoran Desert or watch waves crash ashore at the iconic El Arco…Baja California at its best.

Baja California Beach Scene

Visitors flock to Land’s End and the famous El Arco de Cabo San Lucas. This natural rock formation is the landmark for where the Pacific Ocean becomes the Gulf of California. Enjoy a sunset boat trip and watch on as waves crash against El Arco. The spot is a popular gathering area for sea lions. Or spend a leisurely day sunbathing on the sugar-white sands of Santa Maria Beach. Bay of Cabo San Lucas is a prime location for a spot of fishing. Snorkelers and swimmers are lured to the clear turquoise waters of Chileno Beach, located along the coastal corridor that connects Cabo San Lucas and San Jose Del Cabo. The clear turquoise waters makes this beach a great snorkelling and swimming destination.

Taste Californian Fusion Cuisine

Taste Californian Fusion Cuisine

From seafood tacos at award-winning La Guerrense (originating from the 1960’s) to Baja Med – a new type of Baja Cuisine described as a fusion of Mexican food with influences from the Mediterranean and Asia, there are a myriad of dining options to suit all pockets. Don’t miss the hustle and bustle of border town Tijuana which hosts a lively craft beer scene, bustling bars, restaurants and great shopping.

Go Whale Watching

Visit the UNESCO World Heritage site of Espiritu Santo where pastel pink coloured cliffs form the backdrop to pretty azure inlets in this archipelago of 244 islands in the Sea of Cortez. Meet grey whales and their calves at three distinct spots: Scammon’s Lagoon near Guerrero Negro, San Ignacio Lagoon near San Ignacio, and Magdalena Bay near Puerto San Carlos. See them between mid-January and mid-April before they begin their annual migration to Alaska and back.
