place DAY 1 - Charlotte

Charlotte

Fly into the modern and cosmopolitan city of Charlotte, located in North Carolina. Pick up your rental car at the airport and start your self-drive adventure. Home to the NASCAR Hall of Fame, a thriving arts and culture scene, plus a growing craft beer industry, there are attractions to suit all tastes.

place DAYS 2 - 4 - Charleston

Charleston

Say goodbye to Charlotte and head south. The city of Charleston is a beacon of old-world charm brimming with history and culture. Offering warm hospitality, in typical southern manner, you can learn about the men who signed the Declaration of Independence, the Revolutionary War and the shots that were fired to start the Civil War. Peppered with an array of churches from a patchwork of Christian faiths, the cobbled streets are simply charming. Charleston is renowned for its dynamic culinary and craft brewing scene and we have some great tours that we can organise during your stay. You’ll delight in Lowcountry favourites, such as shrimp and grits or South Carolina barbecue as well as the array of amazing locally brewed IPA’s.

place DAYS 5 - 6 - Bluffton

Bluffton

Arrive into Bluffton for a stay in the serene sanctuary of Montage Palmetto Bluff which will be your base for the next four nights. Spend time exploring the 20,000 acres of land and water surrounding the hotel and take part in an extensive array of entertaining activities such as horse riding, boating, kayaking, yacht cruises, biking and golfing. Enjoy an evening gathered around a campfire to roast s’mores whilst taking in the area’s natural beauty. The nearby town of Wilson Village is a place rooted in time, a pictureperfect small village, resting along the May River. It is the perfect place to spend the afternoon with an expansive village green, charming restaurants, boutiques, and a genuine sense of good old-fashioned community.

Beaufort

Today you head on a short drive to the coastal gem of Beaufort, one of the souths prettiest towns. Blessed with a wonderful mix of history, culture and true southern charm and adorned by natural foliage and centuries-old, moss-drape oak trees. Learn about the unique African American ‘Gullah’ culture at the Penn Center and take a fascinating walking tour of Beaufort’s historic district, a National Historic Landmark, with its impressive collection of antebellum architecture.

Hilton Head Island

Just a 30 minute drive away is Hilton Head Island, a laid-back resort island which revolves around its 12 miles of pristine beaches, world-class golf courses and almost endless sand-duned biking trails. Spend your day exploring the pristine beaches, take to the waters on a kayak, spot dolphins and sea turtles on a cruise off the shore or hike the paved paths for some of the best trails in South Carolina. Browse the Gullah museum or Heritage Library and take a step back in time, discovering the Lowcountry’s fascinating history.

place DAYS 9 - 10 - Savannah

Savannah

Leaving South Carolina behind and heading into Georgia, your next stop on this self-drive tour is the charming and quaint city of Savannah. Head to the Historic District which is one of the largest National Historic Landmark Districts in the United States, with 22 parks and squares, historic buildings and the oldest antebellum rail facility in America. Home to Savannah College of Art and Design, one of the nation’s premier art institutes, the city abounds with art in a variety of forms. Savannah’s cobblestone streets welcome visitors to explore the architecture, beauty, history and shops independently or through one of the many guided tours.

Atlanta

Today’s drive will take around four hours to Atlanta, the state capital of Georgia where you will spend your final night in the US. Relax at your luxury accommodation, take a city tour or simply enjoy some traditional southern soul food.
