Villas, carefully designed to offer seclusion and space, cascade down the forested hillside to the beach; each has a private infinity pool, rain shower and stunning views.

Indoors, chic design combines soft colours and natural textures with gentle oriental touches to create a calming retreat, while outdoors the private swimming pool and furnished deck offer views of the lush green hills and terraced gardens or the beach and the Andaman Sea sunsets.

For a small group of friends or a family, the Two bedroom Pool Villas can accommodate up to four. These split-level villas have all the luxury of the Pool Villas, but with even more space in which to spread out. Upstairs there's a large master bedroom with balcony and en-suite, while downstairs the separate living/dining area, second bedroom and bathroom, pool and private sunbathing area offer a level of comfort and space that's hard to beat.

In keeping with its boutique feel, The Shore at Katathani has three relaxed options for wining and dining.

The Harbor is a contemporary restaurant surrounded by spectacular views of Kata Noi Beach. American style breakfasts prepared to order, a lunchtime range of organic, international, and Thai style starters and entrees and a selection from tapas corner, followed by a dinner from a menu of contemporary cuisine provide options throughout the day.

The Lighthouse is the place to meet and chill-out any time of the day. When the sun descends on tropical evenings, this is the ideal place to sit out, enjoy a relaxing drink, and feel the soft sea air.

And for wine lovers, The Cove offers a fully stocked cellar. It also has regular wine-tastings and offers wines for sale.

In addition to a sparkling infinity pool and fully equipped fitness centre, guests at the resort have use of all the facilities at Katathani Phuket Beach Resort. Guests can join in yoga classes and aqua fit and even try tropical fruit-picking in the orchard.

There’s also the library - a cosy place to curl up with a book, that has a choice of magazines, novels, music and DVDs in several languages.

Staff at the tour desk can help with a wide range of full or half day excursions to Phuket's attractions and surrounding islands.

Serenity Spa combines modern style with ancient Thai culture, providing every visitor with the chance to unwind through holistic treatments in the elegantly appointed private spa villas that incorporate herbal steam baths and outdoor plunge baths.

Set in a lush green landscape complete with shimmering reflection pools, the spa offers treatment using natural products such as mango butter body scrubs, clay bound Thai fresh fruits for facials and tamarind skin exfoliation.

Generally, November to March/April sees the best weather, when the dry season brings little rainfall, calm seas and less humidity - it's also the busiest time to visit. Between April and August it's wetter but with a good chance of sunshine between showers. Rainfall is highest in September and the beginning of October before the high season commences at the end of month.
