The exquisite suites at Huka Lodge are set between The Main Lodge, The Owner’s Cottage and Alan Pye Cottage (named after the founder). All look out onto the deep turquoise colours of the Waikato River. They have an elegant simplicity, yet the feather pillows, fine linens and luxurious fabrics mean they feel extraordinarily opulent, promoting a sense of peace and wellbeing. Beautifully appointed bathrooms with underfloor heating complete the luxurious package.

Dining at Huka Lodge is quite an event. Every night the executive chef creates a five-course menu showcasing the incredible variety and quality of the local ingredients – all accompanied by fine international wines. Guests gather in the main Lodge for an hour of pre-dinner drinks and conversation before choosing to dine in the traditional communal manner, or at one of around twenty specially chosen indoor and outdoor private dining venues.

Take a gentle stroll through 17 acres of the ‘nationally important’ gardens, take a refreshing dip in one of the swimming or spa pools, enjoy a sedate afternoon playing petanque, tennis or croquet or cast a line straight from the manicured lawns. For those wishing to explore Lake Taupo and the surrounding countryside, there’s no shortage of exhilarating experiences on offer, from golf to kayaking and jet boating to bungee jumping.

The main Lodge has a wonderful log fire and is the perfect place to spend some quiet time with a book. Guests can relax in the luxury of their suite with a spa, massage or beauty treatment, or simply enjoy the peaceful ambience of the Lodge’s gardens and the comforting sounds of the Waikato River.

Families are very welcome at Huka Lodge. The Owner’s Cottage and Alan Pye cottage are particularly good for a family getaway. Brilliant child friendly experiences like guided walks and farm visits are available and babysitting services can be arranged in advance.

Getting There

Auckland International Airport or Wellington International Airport

Approximately 3 hours from Auckland International Airport

Although New Zealand is great to visit all year round, the beaches of the North Island are particularly inviting during the summer months (December to February). The weather cools slightly between March and May making this the ideal time to hike some of the North Island's fantastic trails, while winter and spring (June to November) are much quieter.
