Bawah Reserve blends luxury with a sustainability-first approach, proving that high-end hospitality can coexist with responsible stewardship. The resort prioritises the delicate balance of the islands’ ecosystems in everything from its architecture to everyday operations. Construction followed a ‘minimal impact’ approach, clearing as little land as possible and using local and recycled materials. Floating solar panels generate electricity while minimising the resort’s carbon footprint, rainwater is collected for reuse, and the resort is proudly single-use plastic-free. Coral restoration and turtle conservation programmes protect marine life, while there’s support for local communities via fair-trade partnerships and the Anambas Foundation, established to safeguard the archipelago’s environment and uplift community welfare.
