During the times of the British Raj The Oberoi Cecil was an exclusive hotel, known for its fabulous ballroom dances and fashionable clientele. 130 years later this elegant, restored grand heritage hotel retains much of its colonial charm. The Oberoi Cecil is announced by a crisp, white facade and smart, green terrace railings. Inside, a lobby punctuated with marble fireplaces leads guests to a comfortable lounge, which is lit by a skylight that spans the length and breadth of the hotel's signature atrium.

The rooms are air-conditioned in summer, heated in winter and brightly lit through colonial style sash windows that afford timeless views. Family friendly rooms and suites are located in the Tudor Wing and butlers to cater to every need, 24 hours a day.

The restaurant is located in what was in colonial times the most chic ballroom in Shimla. With views over the mountains, cedar covered valley and Cart Road, guests may revel in the authentic ambience while savouring the unparalleled western, pan-Indian and local Himachali cuisine. Nestled in wall and window booths, or spread around the chandelier-lit main hall, tables sparkle with exquisite silver cutlery, gold edged plates and delicate wine glasses. Richly upholstered sofas and soft leather armchairs are arranged in intimate clusters around the impressive atrium lounge. Lit from the skylight, and by antique London street lamps all around, and panelled with rich teak floorboards, the atrium lounge is filled with the delicate notes of a live classical piano every evening, and is a wonderful place to take tea, coffee, enjoy a classic martini or a light snack at any time of the day.

The 15 metre pool is adorned with vibrant blue mosaics and softly lit by elegant Roman column up-lighters, whilst the fitness centre offers a vaiety of workout options. Guests can enjoy a walk through history on a full day excursion around Shimla, the summer capital of the British Raj, which provides an interesting insight into the colonial architecture and stories of Shimla's glorious history. On a gentle tour of the town guests will become acquainted with the Viceregal Lodge, Gorton Castle, St. Michael's Cathedral, The Mall, The Ridge and Clarkes Hotel.

Nestled in the mountainside, the spa affords fantastic views across the Shimla Valley. Indulge in signature indigenous rituals including chakra balancing, unwind with a massage therapy including Thair massage and hot lava shell therapy, and rejuvenate with a revitalising body scrub or wrap.

The children's activity centre is equipped with exciting gaming machines, mini golf, table tennis, soft toys, a library and more. Once a week it's turned into a cinema with big screen, fluffy bean bags, fresh popcorn and a selection of children's films.
