Highlights

With so much on offer in Portland and beyond, Oregon is a destination in its own right.

Portland - a garden city

Oregon’s largest city, Portland, is often less frequented than its Pacific Northwest neighbour, Seattle. However, there’s plenty going on in this quirky city. This green city is home to some fantastic outdoor attractions, including Washington Park, International Rose Test Garden and Mill Ends Park - the world’s smallest dedicated park. Portland is also ideal for foodies and beer lovers, thanks to an array of food trucks and breweries, while those with a sweet tooth should head to VooDoo Doughnuts and Salt & Straw. The Portland Saturday Market is a great place to pick up a unique, handmade souvenir.

Take in the sights

Take in the sights

Just 30 minutes east of Portland, the Columbia River Gorge is a must-visit for both photographers and hikers. Oneonta Gorge follows a unique trail along the river, while the beautiful Multnomah Falls are the most photographed in Oregon. However for the best views, hike up Angel’s Rest at the western end of the Columbia River Gorge.

Sail on Crater Lake

Formed after a violent eruption almost 8,000 years ago, Crater Lake is the deepest lake in the USA. The intense blue waters are an indication of the lake’s great depth and purity as it’s fed entirely by rain and snow from the surrounding cliffs. Enjoy a boat cruise on the lake or explore some of the National Park’s trails - although snowfall may close some in winter.
