Authentic markets

Spend an hour or two in Nizwa Souq, built by the city wall that overlooks the wadi. The part near Nizwa Fort caters for tourists, with a good choice of local handicrafts, including the famous silver curved daggers known as khanjars.

Further in, the souq becomes a food market with fruit, vegetables and spices and on Friday morning’s is full of livestock – an authentic experience of sights, sounds and smells!
