Just back from paradise, and I’m excited to share two standout properties that truly capture the magic of the Maldives – OBLU SELECT Sangeli and Atmosphere Kanifushi. Both five-star resorts deliver unforgettable experiences, from luxe overwater villas to top-tier dining and exceptional service. Whether your customers are seeking a romantic escape or a family getaway, these resorts offer something special for everyone. Five nights, two resorts, and countless memories. For customers seeking the Maldives at its best, I couldn’t recommend these resorts more and I’m already dreaming of my return.
From the moment you arrive at 5-star OBLU SELECT Sangeli, you will feel like you’ve stepped into a tropical havan blending vibrant energy with laid-back luxury. Located in the North-Western tip of Malé Atoll in the Maldives, it’s easy to lose yourself in the picturesque private island setting where you’ll find swaying palm trees, pristine white beaches and the spectacular turquoise lagoon fringed by dazzling coral reefs. Every element of a luxurious holiday is blended together to guarantee a carefree and unforgettable escape with something for everyone.
Our stay began with a tour of the island and the vibrantly designed luxurious stand-alone beach villas and water villas. The Water Villas where I stayed are an over-water haven, curving around the stunningly clear turquoise lagoon and these over-water sanctuaries are romantically designed to ensure complete privacy, some also feature a private pool.
We also had a tour of One Banyan, a stunning mini-island with a garden spa, adults only pool, and the secluded Honeymoon SELECT Ocean Villas where we had cocktails and canapes. One Banyan is the ideal place to relax with a range of dining options from all-day dining, pool bars, and specialty restaurants. Dinner this evening was a spectacular bespoke dining experience with breathtaking views accompanied by fairy lights for the finishing touch.
The next day began with breakfast at The Courtyard followed by a spectacular house reef snorkelling dive which gave us the opportunity to experience a dip in the infinite ocean to see what is beyond the surface. The house reef is rich with beautiful corals and we saw a variety of colourful fish plus I spotted eagle rays, reef sharks and turtles - an amazing experience not to be missed.
I then had a rejuvenating spa treatment at ELE|NA Spa, where I had a 45 minute facial which was amazing! My skin was glowing and I could have easily spent the rest of the day there. I'm not usually a fan of spa treatments, but I was really impressed by this.
The Coral Restoration Program gave us a fascinating education on nurseries, out planting, and monitoring, significantly impacting marine life while securing a sustainable future for communities that rely on these vital ecosystems. We enjoyed our final dinner at OBLU SELECT Sangeli at Just Grill, hosted by The Rock Bar where we relished the fresh seafood.
We then travelled to 5 star Atmosphere Kanifushi which is located at Lhaviyani Atoll, and is famous for its turquoise vistas, endless white beach, and swaying palm trees. The island is approximately 2.8km in length and 90 meters wide with Beach Villas and Water Villas, showcasing vast living spaces with elegant interiors, ideal for a tropical holiday.
What's more, with a Premium All Inclusive offering, you can enjoy the VIP treatment from the moment of arrival, with special touches such as seaplane meet and greet, fine dining experiences and excursions included.
On arrival we began our stay with an island tour on bicycles which was so much fun! With palm trees swaying in the gentle breeze and the warm sunshine reflecting on the turquoise waters, this resort is undeniably idyllic. During our bike ride we also stopped at the banyan tree on the island which is over 100 years old and had a cocktail before continuing to our next stop.
This was then followed by tree planting and a welcome cocktail as we watched the sunset. Then it was on to dinner with wine pairing at Pier Six, a specialty seafood over water fine dining restaurant with stunning lagoon views and exemplary service.
For our evening entertainment, we enjoyed a DJ Night and an amazing Fire Dance at Liquid, which is one of the most favoured locations on the island to unwind, absorb, and embrace the relaxed Maldivian atmosphere.
Our morning began with a buffet breakfast at The Spice, and we then enjoyed a chic island afternoon at our exclusive Gold & Turquoise Party at The Kanifushi Residence where we sipped on handcrafted cocktails and refreshing mocktails, savoured a gourmet lunch selection, and soaked up the luxe tropical vibes by the sparkling freeform pool at the Kanifushi Residence - sheer bliss!
The evening began with a sunset cruise where we took in the stunning views and a dreamy way to end the day—calm seas, golden skies, and pure Maldivian magic – a must do when visiting the Maldives. An Indian Ocean Night at The Spice Garden was where we savoured delicious Indian flavours under the Kanifushi stars at the weekly Indian Ocean Gala dinner. Evening entertainment was at Liquid where we showed off our singing expertise with a DJ and karaoke night!
Our final full day began by indulging in a delightful breakfast at Pier Six over crystal-clear waters, as we took in the golden glow of the morning sun and endless lagoon views. Lunch was an a la carte lunch at Just Veg, a pure vegetarian restaurant, and the first of its kind in the Maldives which offers a delightful selection of vegetarian cuisine inspired by Mediterranean, Arabic and Indian flavours.
At Pier Six, we did a sip and paint experience where we painted some Indian Ocean inspo with Champagne on tap, and at the end of the day we were served food from Ceylon Bliss with an authentic taste of Sri Lankan street food with light meals and refreshing beverages. This was the perfect spot to unwind as we indulged in the delicious, local flavours and took in the stunning sunset views.
Dinner was at The Sunset by the pool which boasts breathtaking lagoon views. In the evenings, the pool bar converts into this à la carte specialty restaurant serving specialty fusion cooking with Asian and Mediterranean style cuisine. Our final evening of entertainment was at Liquid with a DJ night and variety dance, before returning to the UK the following day after an unforgettable trip to the Maldives.
My Overall Thoughts
What stood out most was the consistently warm, intuitive service—nothing was too much trouble. Kanifushi’s bike-friendly island made exploring effortless and fun, while Sangeli offered a vibrant yet relaxed atmosphere. My spa treatment left my skin glowing and mind at ease—a perfect welcome to island life. These properties tick every box: service, setting, food, and experience.
