Holidays to Inner Islands with If Only

Despite being the second largest island in the Seychelles, Praslin has a fraction of the population making it less busy and less developed than Mahé.

Best known for its beaches, Praslin often features on world's best beaches lists, although there's also an 18-hole Championship golf course and fascinating flora and bird life waiting to be discovered. Within a stone's throw is the postcard perfect La Digue is the smallest of the three main inhabited islands, with turquoise waters, diamond-white beaches, emerald green hills and a relaxed island vibe thanks to its lack of surfaced roads and motorised transport - the perfect Robinson Crusoe experience. Some choose to visit as a day trip, but always leave wanting more.

Highlights

Leave the resort and explore the beautiful surroundings or discover some of the main attractions.

UNESCO World Heritage Sites

In the heart of Praslin, Vallée de Mai Nature Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a stunning natural palm forest which has remained largely unchanged since prehistoric times - home to the world's largest population of the rare Coco de Mer palms. Clearly marked, short hiking trails (1km - 2km) lead through the lush forest and are easy enough for the whole family to enjoy this unique landscape.

Explore Marine National Parks

Explore Marine National Parks

Off shore, the Seychelles has stunning Marine National Parks that make the perfect day trip. Set around 3 small islets in shallow turquoise seas, fringed by large expanses of coral reefs, Ile Coco Marine National Park provides the most breathtaking snorkelling experience. To the north west of Praslin, Curieuse is a bio-reserve featuring walking trails around Curieuse Island, hundreds of the local Giant Hump-Head Parrotfish and an abandoned leper colony.

Picture-perfect beaches

The Seychelles is famous for it's beautiful beaches, non more so than Anse Source d'Argent - one of the world's most photographed beaches - on La Digue Island. This west-facing beach, featuring shallow crystal clear waters and dazzling white sand surrounded by granite boulders offers some incredible sunsets. South of La Digue Island, Frégate Island is home to two beaches that are regularly voted best in the world, Anse Victorin and Anse Maquereau, that have to be seen to be believed.
