Holidays to The Tuamotus with If Only

Those looking to disconnect and enjoy a slower pace of life should head to The Tuamotus. Start in Rangiroa, The Endless lagoon, and discover a string of coral encircling a luminous turquoise and jade lagoon - one of the world’s greatest diving spots. Tikehau, The Pink Sand Island, is ideal for snorkelling thanks to an abundance of brightly coloured tropical fish, while Manihi, The Island of Pearls, conjured up castaway dreams of a tropical isle, far away from the modern world. This is farm country, South Pacific style, where the world’s most sought after gem is produced - pearls.

Highlights

Learn about the history of the islands, meet the locals, or simply unwind on a beautiful beach.

Dolphins at play

On the northern shore of Rangiroa, Tiputa Pass offers the perfect vantage point for dolphin watching. Every day the local school (pod) of dolphins are attracted by the ebb tide, where they play and frolic in the waves.

Rangiroa’s lagoon is home to an astounding assortment of marine life, which makes it a prime spot for snorkelling. L’Ile aux Recifs Beach, Papiro Point and the Mahuta area are all known for their superb snorkelling. However, most choose to simply grab a mask and some fins and dive straight in from the hotel.

The Island of Dreams

Visit Fakarava, The Island of Dreams, an untouched world where nesting birds and marine life live in harmony with the land and water. This rich ecosystem is home to rare birds and plants, while many of the dive sites are virtually undiscovered. Life along the shores is equally unique, with quaint villages, old coral churches and welcoming people - a true taste of French Polynesia.
