Additionally, for those of you with children, some hotels offer interconnecting rooms and suites allowing couples privacy and tranquility, safe in the knowledge that your children are not far away. We've set our date - what happens next?
It's simple, leave it in our capable hands and one of our wedding specialists will call you to confirm your wedding date. If your chosen date is not available, we will contact you with the nearest available date. Thereafter, a confirmation will follow. A 10% deposit plus a wedding deposit of £100 per couple is required at time of booking. You should then collect all photocopies of the required documents and send them to If Only....
What about the wedding legalities?
If Only... have years of experience in arranging weddings and we can advise on all of the legalities and procedures. Call our wedding specialists for help and advice.
Which airline will we fly with?
If Only... use only scheduled airlines including Air Mauritius, British Airways and Virgin who all fly direct to Mauritius from London. Additionally, Emirates fly to Mauritius from six regional airports via Dubai which is the ideal destination for an exciting and diverse twin centre experience.
How do we carry the wedding dress?
Due to the limited space in the cabin, the airlines recommend that the dress should be checked-in together with your luggage or put in the overhead compartment.
What is the maximum weight we can carry?
The standard maximum weight in Economy is 20kg + 6kg of hand luggage. If you are travelling in First or Club class, the weight limit is 30kg plus 9kg of hand luggage. Emirates have a more generous allowance of 30kg in Economy Class. (subject to change by the airlines).
What is the minimum stay before we can be married?
Minimum duration in Mauritius is 3 working days.
Do we need to carry all the documents with us?
It is vital that you take all the ORIGINAL documents with you.
Can I choose the colour of my bouquet before we go?
As they are tropical flowers, we recommend that you choose the flowers and colours on arrival as colours and variety of flowers differ from season to season.
Can we choose the music for the ceremony?
Yes, either you can opt to have a band play or you can take along a CD of the music you wish to be played.
Can I have my hair and make up done on the day?
Yes, all of the hotels featured in this brochure have beauty salons where they will help you to look your best for the day. You can even book a spa treatment or two.
What kind of ceremony will it be?
It's a civil ceremony, similar to one in a registry office and is legal under British law.
Can our family and friends come?
Of course. Some of the hotels will offer special deals for groups and depending on how many people are travelling, the bride often stays free. Our wedding specialists will be happy to make the arrangements for your family and friends.
It is just going to be the two of us - what about witnesses?
Legally there has to be two witnesses so either the hotel wedding planner will arrange for two witnesses to come along, or, you may wish to invite two people you have met whilst on holiday.
How long will the ceremony last?
Around 45 minutes to one hour.
Is it necessary to register the wedding once we come back?
No, you have already entered in to a legal wedding and have a certified legal wedding certificate.
